In this episode of HBCU Corner, Wole sits down with University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) women’s basketball head coach Malikah Willis for an in-depth conversation about the Hawks’ 2025–26 season.

Coach Willis discusses UMES’s 7–10 start to the season and breaks down key non-conference matchups, including losses to the University of Pennsylvania and Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) at the FDU Christmas Classic. Against Penn, UMES faced early foul trouble and a fast offensive start that created challenges throughout the game.

At the FDU Christmas Classic, the Hawks encountered a difficult first half but showed resilience after halftime. Brianna Barnes led UMES with 20 points and earned all-tournament honors, highlighting individual growth and competitive effort despite the final result.
