🏈 Join Wole Akinso and special guest Donna Hopkins, Washington Commanders reporter for Tony McGee’s Pro Football Plus, for a heartfelt tribute to one of the greatest linebackers in Washington Redskins history — the late Monte Coleman.
Monte Coleman was more than just a Washington football legend — he was the definition of durability, leadership, toughness, and championship culture in Burgundy and Gold.
A three-time Super Bowl champion, Monte Coleman played an incredible 16 NFL seasons with Washington after being selected in the 11th round of the 1979 NFL Draft. He became one of the franchise’s all-time defensive leaders, finishing his career with over 1,000 tackles, 17 interceptions, nearly 50 sacks, and earning his place in the Washington Ring of Fame.
Wole and Donna Hopkins reminisce on:
✅ Monte Coleman’s impact on the Washington Redskins championship defenses ✅ Why Monte embodied old-school Redskins football toughness
✅ His leadership during the Joe Gibbs dynasty years
✅ Monte Coleman’s legacy in Commanders/Redskins history
✅ Favorite memories from Washington’s Super Bowl era
✅ Why younger Commanders fans should know his name
Donna Hopkins of Tony McGee’s Pro Football Plus joins the show to provide perspective on why Monte Coleman remains one of the most underrated and beloved defenders to ever wear the Burgundy and Gold.
This is more than a football conversation — this is a celebration of a true Washington icon.
🕊️ Rest in Peace, Monte Coleman.
